Did I fry my Fuel Gauge?

I emptied my tank completely(see: CHECK GAGES indicatior illiuminated) and filled up immediately after the light came on. I have not accelerated heavily since I have filled up my car with 89 octane fuel. I'm running a 2200 engine and the Trip is 79.9 and my fuel gauge is reading at 15/16th of a tank. Is this normal?

15/16ths of a tank...what a wierd number...just keep an eye on the miles around half a tank left...im sure it will even out. my car will go quite a bit of miles on 3/4 tank, the last 1/4 seems to go by quicker then i think it would

BTW once the empty light comes on, there's about 1.5 gallons left(IIRC) so it's not completely empty, with that motor, even driving hard you'd still get around 20 more miles until it shuts off

Good news and bad news: I'm just getting really good mileage- 159.9 at 5/8ths of a tank. Bad News: P0442(OBD-II for Evap Emissions Leak) hit me going up a mountain.

Triple Checked it, light is still on. Thinking it may be something a bit more than that, but still minor.

The car is 11 years old, has the cap ever been replaced? They seal using an o-ring and they can crack and leak eventually.

"Oil Leak ? What oil Leak ? Oh, Thats Just The Sweat From All The HorsePower!!"

^^ Doesn't mean it's not bad. They don't cost much, and its an easy fix. Unscrew old cap, screw on new cap. Even an OEM is like $12.
But you can wait to see if your light comes back. Evap codes suck. It's either a super easy, stupid fix, or it takes days to find the damn problem.
