flahing CEL limp mode problem

my dads 03 auto cavy has a cel for low catalyst efficiency, it has a brand new cat on it but the code still persists, another thing i have noticed is when you really get on the car the check engine light will flash and the car will go into a sort of limp mode, any ideas for a fix?

you need a new coil pack. the flashing CEL is random multiple misfire... i have dealt with that many times already.

First our cars do not have a limp mode.

low catalyst effciency could be a bad O2 sensor.

Flash CEL is a misfire. Could be coils/ICM, or bad plugs.

Yeah Eco's for some reason, go through coil packs. Swap out the coil pack and you should be just fine. A flashing CEL (as stated above) means the computer is detecting a misfire condition.
