Timming marks! ASAP HELP!

putting a new chain in my car and we put it on. the crack is off the mark by 1 link what should i do.!

there should be marks on the cam shafts, both should be straight down if im not mistaken, and one on the crank that should point straight up. should be a corresponding mark above it as well to align. are you saying that when that chain was remove one of these assemblies accidently rotated?

I havent opened one myself but generally/always there is a mark on the crank sprocket and on the timing face. line those up as accurately as possible. when you put the chain back on do the tensioner last, make sure it is completely compressed not just flat but inside itself.
