I have a 1998 cavz24 convertible, and got t boned today and destroyed the driver door and quarter panel. I found a 2000 z24 vert with a bad motor. Will my 1998 motor and trans bolt right in? will I need to change the wiring harness and computer? Info would help asap! I need to drive 5 hrs to go pick up this ride and drag her back home and get down and dirty... please help!
forget swapping your motor in... sell your motor and get an eco in that 2000 lol
Will it swap out? I need to know, because I am going to plan a road trip asap to go get this 2000
if the new one is a 00+ the eco should bolt in with a newctransmission, you will need the engine harness and ecm and its almost plug and play. check out the performance forum on a how-to IIRC. its just a guide and not a step by step. as far as ur 98 motor going into the 00 thats the easiest one, all u have to do is remove the egr as 00+ ld9's dont have egrs and block off the ports. and you will havecto use the 00+ knock sensor on the 98 motor. there is a thread in this forum with the picture on what they both look like and it tells u how to install it. good luck!
IMO just swap/bolt right in, ive read here alot about EGRs and that bs about swapping intake mani's on them, i dropped a 97 WITH EGR into a 2000 and left the Egr on and there were no problems, i just had no harness clip to plug into it and it was still fine
probably gonna have to swap exhaust manifolds but that's simple
knock sensor from 2000 i just bolted up to the side of transmission near the block
and that's it, no problems anywhere, no check engine lights
Your 98 motor will botl in. You will need to use the tranny in the 2000, as will has the harness, injectors, intake manifold, exhaust manifold. One problem with be the knock sensor's are different. You can either drill and tap a new hole for the 2000+ knock sensor, or get a adapter. The knock sensor for your year has a bigger hole than 2000+.
