Yesterday I opened my trunk via the remote (i rarely open it anymore since I spilled a bunch of oil in it 6 months ago)and now it won't shut. At first I thought it was because of the snow and ice it wouldn't shut ..I then thought it might be that the latch got messed up....any ideas? I'm desperate since it is supposed to be around -8 today
Does anyone have a picture of the trunk lock assembly?
turn the lock cylinder with the key. Just to make sure it's in the open position and not in the latched position. I hope that makes sense. Then try yo close it. Hope that makes sense.
Here is a short video of the lock in action while I am pressing on the trunk unlock button on my remote. I'm not sure if this is normal behavior for the lock, but i don't think it seems right.

Thanks for the advice....I tried that already last night and it doesn't seem to fix it.
Nope seems right, what you can do is undo those two nuts holding the lock to the car, and move it down a little bit, tighten back up and close and see what happens. SOmetimes they move after years and years of being used. Might just need to re-adjust it a little bit and go from there. Try that and repost. Goodluck!

And this worked for me lol wouldnt shut twice, first time was 1st reply, second time was 2nd reply
And as a correction to what I posted, I mean loosen up the nuts, and bring
UP the latch, not down lol. Opps, sorry about that.

No, you do bring it down lol if you go up then the latch wont reach the little hook it's supposed to grab....if you go too far down, it willgrab easily but it wont be closed all the way and will leak
UPDATE: I tried the washer idea (I added 3 more washers), but it didn't seem to help at first. Then, frustrated and desperate, I took a hammer and pulled upward on the metal loop. I then tried closing it again....nope...then quickly shut it again....it SHUT!!!
Finally!! I will have to fine tune it to make sure it closes the first time every time, but for now it is closed!! thanks for all your help and suggestions!

Well, first off, great that your truck is closed.
You sir are right, damn. For some reason I had a brain fart when I posted it again, and thought the latch was on the car, not the lid (like the hoods). Thanks for catching that. Idk what I was thinking lol
