Ok here is a little background on my car. I have a 2002 cavalier. I have the DRL's disabled and i have had them disabled since 2004 via shorting out the one wire on the BCM to ground. Ok to this day it has never gave me any issues at all.
Ok now you all know i now have a HID set up now thats just low beams. The HID kit i have has the relay for power and i have the power going to the relay to turn it on and off from the drivers side low beam circuit and it gets the positive and negative to actually power them directly from the battery and i have had it this way for 7 months now without any issues at all.
Now comes to tonight. i started the car in the parking lot at work and let it warm up etc blah blah. Now i leave work and about a mile away that service with a wrench below it pops on. No other lights. Ok i shut the car off and turn it back on and the light is off until i turn the headlights back on and bam with in about 2 seconds service light comes back on. Now i do not have high beams with this set up. If i have the car off i can put the full beams on with the service light off and the service light stays off but the instant i put the lows back on bam service light comes on.
Well i drive most of the way home till i get to a car wash to check everything out. here is what i checked
1. passenger side head light fuse
2. driver side head light fuse
3. made sure my ground for my DRL disable was still good
everything checked out fine. what do you all think this can be? i am thinking DRL relay maybe? please help guys im stumped..
Are they DDM hid's?
When I had my IS300 retrofit, I never had any issues. When I sold the Lexus stuff and put in one of the DDM kits, I would occassionally get the exact situation you described. I don't know if the DDM ballasts gave off a specific frequency or current oscillation that messed with something in the car (wheel bearings? bcm?), but yes it would occassionally do it. Nothing was wrong with the car though. I never figured it out, it would come on randomly and a few days later go away. I would get nervous because I needed to do my inspection and couldn't have the CEL or Service lights on to pass. If someone figures it out please let us know, I was always curious.

Not sure on the DDM kit or not. I bought Acav2Envy's set up he had for sale June of last year.

did your light ever go back off? and stay off for a while?
Yes, it'd go off randomly and not come back on for months, then it'd come back. It'd come in spurts

It seems mine is doing the exact samething man. Drove tonight for like 15 minutes tonight with my lights on and no service light. Wtf.
