2.4L water outlet from head...

A little background info real quick...

I bought this car a couple months ago with a leaking head gasket, fixed that and had to fix a fuel pump. Made sure everything was torqued to spec on the head and all and used a felpro head gasket.

Everytime I drive the car for more than 20 mins and park it, I can see white smoke coming out of the hood, and it smells like coolant. I remember reading something awhile ago about a metal water outlet that is supposed to be better then the stock plastic one. The coolant is leaking from the outlet, I know that much. We couldn't find a gasket for the outlet, so we used the stock one and some gasket maker. Do you think that's the problem, or could it be the actual outlet being warped slightly and not sealing properly? Any advice is good advice

So it is coming from there again huh... well Id say that stupid rubber O ring slipped out of the grove again... I had to take mine off like 4 times before It actually sealed right.. Just take it off again, and freakin put alot of oil on that O ring then put it back on the head.. Its just a matter of getting it right..

A new O-ring always solved my problem with this issue... had it happen three times on three cars now. Actually four, I need to do it to my DD now too

what i found is to dab a little wheel bearing grease on it to help keep it in place. not a lot but it helps it stay in place. i had to put a new o-ring in mine in the parking lot cuz i was at school and it was leaking constantly. i now work on vw's and we do it on thermostat o-rings all the time.

yep had the same problem. changed mine 3 times now. its funny but when you screw your temp sensor in down screw it in to much lol. i did and one night when i took of the entire outlet cracked in half. because the coolient was pushing on the sensor. lol it was crazy. had to drive home with no coolient. i even took the hood off and put it inside my car. nobody thought i could but just for a reminder cavalier hoods will fit inside the car lol.

A couple weeks ago down my shop, I was poking around under my hood trying to find a loose wire for some other problem..

I noticed I only had 1 bolt in that water outlet housing.. It was not leaking and I drove the car quite a bit..

When I installed it several months earlier, I put some sealant on the neck & rubber O-ring. It was some silver stuff that FORD uses...

After 3 leaking from the o-ring in a row, it was time for custom. Why trust that seal to a wimpy o-ring and some sealant squeezed in there? Custom fab an aluminum one so you can use the entire flange as the sealing surface.
