Exhaust Replacement
Friday, November 26, 2010 10:43 PM
Well the Cav is fastly approching 100K and I've been noticing the Exhause is'nt sounding as nice and smooth as it was before. So was looking to see if anyone had any idea how much a dealership would charge to replace the Stock LS Sport Exhaust. Also wondering if I should just have the actual muffler replaced instead of entire system ? Thanks

I know I just purchased exhaust system piping behind cat converter, And muffler for $150. Better off geting after market piping @ local muffler shop for why cheaper then the Dealer prices.

Yea exactly if you just want a decent sound pick up a aftermarket and have it put on. I have a magnaflow on the 2.4 sunfire. Header 2.5 all the way back to a magnafow res. Then the f-body single in dual outlet. When I had it put on it sounded like stock and good. A year later it is loud as a mofo and still sounds good but buzzes. The other sunfire with the 2200 the stock muffler was rusted so I put a $20 thrush on it from advance. It was a little louder than stock a hair. But had a nice deep low rumble to it. No buzzy at all. A year or so later after the muffler broke in. It is a little louder but still sounds the same. That car has all stock exhaust just the muffler.

I've been thinking about pulling the muffler off the one and then put the same thrush mufflers on it. But you could buy a header and have all new 2 1/4 ran with a resonator and muffler of choice for probably cheaper than a stock exhaust. If you want a sound clip of either I can probably make vid of both.

i work at a dealership and i highly recommend you go to a exhaust shop. it will be much cheaper and a higher quality job as dealerships or at least mine rarely do exhaust work.
