Hi there, ive got a small issue with my car its a 2001 cavy with a ld9 and a 4 speed. After its warmed up it will idle a little lumpy. It will hover around 700ish rpm then dip to around 500 quickly and then come back up to normal, happens kinda irregularly every 3-5 seconds. The car drives great, has tons of power. The only other time i have trouble is when the car is still warming up and the first time i go to give it gas it will bog for a split second. Only happens when its cold tho. The car dosent show any codes besides a P0440 evap code........ still working on solving that one, but that shouldnt effect the idle.
The car has 100 000kms on it, ive only had it for about a month. Ive done plugs and fluid flushes and cleened the tb and what not. Its got a wai on it and a muffler. Besides that i dont know the history on this car, and what has and hasent been done. Ive got a fuel filter for it but the line looks kinda rusty, and i dont feel like breaking it and having to fix it in the driveway while its freezing out. It does look like its been replaced before tho.
Any ideas?
All the lines look good, ill check more closely tonight tho.
My old '00 Z did the same thing you described. It was specifically the 90* elbow on the front of the throttle body.
hmmm ill take a look at it tonight..... im probally going to take a couple hose clamps home with me tonight and just clamp everything lol.....couldnt hurt lol
similar problem with my l61
except it's a p0141 code and it appeared after I changed my fuel pump...

What could cause a lumpy idle?
A huge cam that looks like a deformed hippopotamus cock would do it.
Though, it probably relates to your P0440. Could be the purge valve sticking open, causing an issue.

I opened this thread just to make give a rediculous cause for a lumpy idle, but you beat me to it. Well played sir.

I wish it was a deformed hippopotamus cock lol, i forgot to mention there is a new purge soleniod and vent solenoid so that wouldnt be it, unless a leak in the evap system would cause the idle issue
The code actually comes up as EVAP system leak.
