Anyone have a spare one or know what the GM part number is? I can't find it.

its part of the heater hose assembly. You can remove it and save the hoses with these.

or replace the hose for $80

I removed mine a while ago and replaced with straight barbs. It's a spring loaded relief valve, but it's seemingly there for a reason:

    1. When the thermostat is closed, if there is more coolant pressure/flow than the heater core can flow, it provides a path for it to go.
    2. If the heater core is clogged, it lets the coolant bypass.

Although my heater core seems to be fine, I'm still analyzing a cooling system issue, and I'd like to put this piece back in just for @!#$s and giggles... I threw mine out.

Why not just bypass the heater core temp. to see if that is the problem? I know its cold out right now, but it would be a quicker and cheaper quick test than trying to locate and install the correct piece.

I know for a fact where the only two small coolant leaks are, and they'll be fully secured in a day or two, so that may fix everything. (My aluminum water outlet's bleeder barb doesn't seal properly via the threads, so I'm switching to an aluminum barb that will be welded. Also the heater core inlet hose slides on to the smooth water outlet's pipe too easily, so I'm welding on a good barbed one instead.)

Car doesn't overheat or blow out coolant the way I'm driving it at the moment, so I'm not in too much of a hurry; it just operates slightly different than I'd like it to. So I'd like to know where I can source one of these H-pieces in case things still act up after the system is fully closed up.

Found it. Everco makes one, part number 74882. $13.99 at AutoZone.

Thanks man my h on the 2.4 has been leaking since I did the swap 2 years ago. 30k later and the same as it was then. Doesn't really affect anything on my car though as it is a drip from time to time. I will have to see about getting one. Though that thing is a bit big and ugly.
