Really light knock?

I have a 1997 sunfire. Just got done changing the head gasket with a new head. 2.2 ohv. motor runs great, starts right up. runs smooth.

Only thing is, there's an ever so slight-even barely noticeable knocking noise at an idle. You can barely tell. But when the motors under stress (driving) it gets a little louder. (still not that bad, it's a light knock)

What do you think might be causing this? i think it might be a wrist pin bearing but i dont know.

Car has 140k miles.
The knock isn't NEAR as bad as the one in that video. It's very faint. And at idle barely even noticeable.

Ill work on a video.

If that truely is the sound, then it is a rod knock. Pull the oil pan down and see if any of ur connecting rods wiggle up and down, once u find it, replace the bearing there, and that sould fix ur problem. Dont drive on that too much, bc it WILL get worse. That sounded like the exact same thing my girls LD9 had. Sorry buddy. Goodluck. Its actually a really easy fix. and 100 times easier with the engine out the car, but it still can be done with the engine in the car so you dont have to pull it out.

I have a feeling it's a lifter tick, alot of people confuse a tick with a knock.

True, but if it sounds like that, that is a knock. I have heard ticks, and ticks are high pitch. Knocks sound like someone is hitting ur block with a hammer, and that vid is a knock. Either way cant be 100% sure bc neither of us are there. Lol. If he replaced the head like he said he did, it wont hurt to pull the valve cover off, and re-check the torque on all the rocker arms and such since they can come loose. I THINK, im not 100% on this tho, even the book says after a certain amount of miles, to re torque them bc they can back out a little bit.

My old Z24 had a rod bearing knock and when you have heard them both, you know the difference. If you listen to my engine, there is a slight tick, but it's so light and all the other engine/exhaust noise mixing in, I can see where it can kind of sound like that knock but not as bad. From my experience, if it is a rod knock, within the week it will get ALOT worse, so if it's not that bad by now, I'll throw a guess and say lifter tick. I've had 2 of the OHVs and the lifters can be a bit noisey at times.

A bummed lifter. That tick you call it isn't good either. It means it is collapsed and not fine. Keeping driving it that way and it will tear crap up. Now if it was only on a cold start that is a different. A bummed lifter has a high pitch noise to it. Like take a little screw, nail or something else metal and tap it on a piece of steel. A spun rod/rod bearing sounds like someone beating the hell out of motor with a hammer. Due to the fact the impact it takes and how quick it moves up and down. Though a 4.0 in a sport trac I worked on had a tick coming from the bottom end. But sounded like a lifter. After I said it was a bearing the guy still took it and another guy told him it was a cracked flywheel. 4 days later the bearing spun in it and broke the rod in half. I am going to also say what the block is made out of will make it sound different. As it was aluminum.

A spun main bearing sounds like a thump. Like taking a rubber mallet and hitting a piece of metal with it. Also on if you can feel this noise threw the pedal it isn't going to be a lifter. Look at the other two. If the head gasket blew. It is very likely that it screwed up the bearings or there is coolant stuck in a lifter. Where you should have changed the oil after putting it together. Took it down the road easy for like 10 miles came back and changed the oil again. Then a follow up a bit more miles later. As it is very hard to get coolant/water out of the oil. As it turns milky and like jelly just sticking in the motor. Seafoam in the oil might have also helped clean and water/antifreeze out.
