Well its a rebuilt 99' block with 96' head, Pacesetter header and Borla exhaust.
Had a 2.3 LO manifold swap(egr delete as well) but wen't back to the 2.4 while I cleaned up the lo manifold.
also had a issue with a miss while I was using the dodge neon coil packs.
Swapped over to a DIS from a HO motor, and the miss stopped.
So after the lo manifold was finished I swapped back.
Now the issue starts...
From a cold start, it idles normal.
After a minute or two, once the car warms up it starts a steady "whomp whomp whomp" in the exhaust.
Its a constant, steady sound not random like a miss would cause.
I've had a few people ask if I've swapped a V6/V8 in the car.
It runs fine, doesn't stumble, stall or anything if you give it gas(which it did when it was missing).
I know theres a leak somewhere in the exhaust, but it hasn't caused any issues before aside from a quiet "ticking/puffing" when its under hard acceleration.
any ideas on what could cause this?

i have a 99z24 with the 2.4 ld9 and im running 2 3inch pipes and it sounds like we are experiencing the same issue/phenomenon it starts great but then i watch my fuel/air guage idle with the engine and its all over. Im thinking that it way be from a lack of back pressure but thats just speculation
If I could get my a/f working I'd check mine, but I can't get it to read.

i have this exact problem with my '96 2.4L.... i pulled plugs and cylinder 4 was covered in oil.. i figured i have a cracked ring or worse. this drives me nuts though. i'll check injector seals.
