Have a '03 2.2L manual trans with 114k. Was driving to work and the car started to sputter/jerk and didn't want to go anywhere. The CE light came on so I ran the code reader and gave me a code...said I had misfire(s) in several cylinders and needed new plugs. So I replaced the plugs. That took care of the CE light and made the car not sputter as much.. But still having the problem of it sputtering/jerk when I switch into another gear while the RPMs are low. As soon as it gets to certain RPMs it doesn't have any problems. Anybody have this kind of issue before?
Had the same issue with my 02 LSS. Had the Ecotec in it also. Need to replace the Coil pack assembly. Im not 100% sure which it was since it was done under warranty when I had the car. But I know they replaced the Coil packs. I woudl try that. My car did the exact same thing at low RPM's, and would basically fall on its face. Replace the Coil pack assembly and it should fix that issue. The ICM swaps over.
Thanks guys. I appreciate the info!
i have a 2.4 and it was doing something similar to that turned out to be a vacuum line check before you replace you coils might end up saving you some money, and thats always good

Did you replace the plugs with AC Delcos?
- 2004 Cavalier - 124k, owned since new
Yeah. That's what I replaced the old plugs with.
Well, if you know someone with the same engine, just swap over the whole setup and test that. Then that way you will know what the issue is. I have seen these go bad alot, and from what I have seen they are pretty notorious. For some reason the ones that came from GM suck, but the aftermarket ones are better, and last a quite a bit longer. Either way, check the vacuum lines, and go from there. Goodluck!
