So my airbag light has been on for a while and finally hooked it up to a scanner(snap on solus, not some cheap code clearer) and it reads everything fine, engine, trans, bcm but when I go into the airbag section and try retrieve codes it says no communication. Any help as to where the main airbag module is and why it wouldn't retrieve these codes.
Air bag codes are "hard codes" they are stored in the air bag module (under the passenger seat, hiden under the carpet) which is some kind of black box like in planes they store any events regarding the air bag system, you canīt erase them with any scanner. The only way to erase them is correcting whatever is wrong or brokenand changing or having the module cleaned. I had the same issue the airbag light came on without any apparent reason, it was the clockspring or springclock (under the center part of the steering wheel) its wire broke made ground and triggered the light, had to replace it and also the module which stored the "event" and there was no way to erase it, you can send your module to specialized shops who can erase it for you found them on Ebay if you need the info let me know to dig around see if I find it. Good luck.
