Did you notice a check engine light?
Try checking the spark plugs and spark plug wires.
The 2.4's are known to break the white housing under the IDI cover. Pull off the cover front the top of ur engine and see if there are any cracks. You will notice them bc of the black carbon sut that is there that looks like lightning streaks. If none are there, try swapping out the coils. Those too, are known to go bad. Its pretty simple. Also, like funkz24 said, check the plugs and (2.4's dont have wires but boots) boots for brittle feeling. If they break in ur hand, replace them. Check that stuff and im sure ur issue is in there. If there are any CE lights, get the code pulled at a local autozone for free, and see if that entails anything also. Goodluck!
you can also check the vacuum hoses that are beside the throttle body. that fixed it for me.
maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow....... but some day
