Need help trying to make a break light work.
Wednesday, November 03, 2010 11:56 AM
I have been trying to fix this for a while now,
My break light does not work when the car is running but the turn signal works and the light works when the head lights are on.
But if the car is off everything works fine. I have checked fuses, replaced bulbs and still nothing.
When the turn signal is on it blinks faster than normal and the light for the defroster blinks when the turn signal is on.
If anyone has any idea what the problem could be let me know or any suggestions would help.

Sometimes the di-electric grease in the brake light sockets dries out and funny things can happen... I'd yank the bulbs out and look down in there..... dried crusty orange goop could be your problem.
I had a problem with it before and ended up with lights not working right, as well as the instrument cluster having lights lit that shouldn't of been.

Check grounds! Could be some sort of backfeeding.

The fact that the defroster light blinks when you use the turn signal makes me think you have a grounding/shorting issue.
