P0440 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System
Symptoms are at idle and sitting for a while with the ac on I get a strong smell of gas. Makes me think its coming from the engine area.
When I come home and park car in garage and turn off the garage will smell like gas for a while.
What can I check for to see where my evap system is failing at. I’m trying to avoid going to the mechanic and have it smoke tested. Trying to see if I can figure it out on my own with out smoke testing it.
Also i have had this light come on for as long as ive had the car but the whole smell thing has just recently gotten really bad which is why instead of clearing the cell i may just want to get it fixed.
