I have a 01 z24 with the 2.4L.
So within the past 2 months, ive replaced the heater hoses, water outlet and both radiator hoses, i was running plain water past 2 months so i made sure the heater hoses & water outlet fixed the leak before i waste 25 bucks on that good dex cool coolant.
So yesterday I decided to pull the lower radiator hose, drain the water and put in a galloon of the dex cool 100k coolant/antifreeze.
FilleD it up, drove around a bit for the coolant light to go off though it was full (probably an air pocket) drove about 50 miles last night and this morning, no problems.
get to schoo lthis mornign and light comes on, drive home and by the time i get to my street 12 minutes later i look underneath and see it decently dripping coolant from the back side of the motor somewhere on the passenger side like.
I havent looked at it closely yet til tomorrow afternoon?
What could it be? I hope not the water pump.
thanks, please help.

Best thing to do is put ur hand down on the water pump by the wheep hole, and see if its wet, if it is, its ur water pump. I had a mystery leak coming from my girls 96 vert with the 2.4 and it was the heater hoses. Her water pump was dry so it was ok. Other then that buddy idk, its hard to help diagnose these problems when ur not looking at the car. goodluck tho
Thank you. So i looked underneath just now and its dripping from that silver thing on the back passenger side of the motor. Thats all I see thats wet, Is that the water pump? It connects the lower coolant pipe and hose.

Yes that is the water pump

There is like a bigger piece, to pretty small to a little bigger but not as big as the biggest part, that whole thing is the water pump?

It connects to the block via a housing and then connects to the timing chain cover. Its a PITA to do. Grab a haynes manual

Yup buddy, there is a water pump, and the housing on the opposite side where the tubes run onto it. It is a hard job. Not saying ur not, BUT if ur not mechanically inclined at all, have a mechanic do it. This job requires alot of work, for a relatively easy part. Goodluck man.
Thought that was gonna be the problem as soon as I saw that leak. but oh well, i can do it with some help this weekend.
About to turn 230,000 miles, still runs perfect & always has been real good to me. love the 2.4 even though i hear all the bad stories, maybe i'm lucky.
