My oil needed filling recently just around 0.5 qts after 2000km. I noticed that there was a quite a bit of oil in the intake by the throttle. I'm thinking the oil/air separator is done for however I'm not sure, anyone know how to tell if it needs replacement?
I drive a 2001 Z24 BTW with ~100k miles.
2.4L's burn oil. Totally normal.
The oil/air separator is a plastic baffle plate... nothing to replace.
You can take it off and clean it. It may be clogged. Mine was full of a milky white oily goo.

isn't there a gasket inside that could break? I heard that they break down quite often on the 2.4L and need replacement.
There is a red silicon gasket, but I have never seen one brake down...and it is around the outside........there are only baffles inside.

Like Mike said, you can take it off and clean it out... this is what it looks like:
I too have never seen one of the gaskets fail... but they clog up with crap.. so does the whole PCV setup... the tube from the top of the timing chain assembly, the tiny hole in the bottom middle of the intake manifold gasket... clean it all out if you want, but it will still suck oil into the intake. It's just a poor design.
