overheating??

idk how these cars run normally but my talon doesnt do this nor do my parents trucks. i drive it with the a/c on and its barely below the half line, then if im not moving and i stay with the a/c on it stays at exactly the middle but if i driving with the a/c off it stays at the middle but if im not moving and im with the a/c off it goes just above the half mark line, is this normal? i just changed the thermostat and coolant. what could this be? i had a problem like this with a prelude si that i used to own (digital gauges) and i guess it was usually a little above the half mark and i ended up blowing up the head cus of a bad head gasket.

i own a 2002 Z24 with 95,xxx miles

completely normal. basically gm in general has a decent range on the temperature gauges. most others, by the time the needle starts going up, it's too late and you've overheated.
