01 sunfire GT 2.4l

hey all , I'm new .....HI everyone !

so I have this sunfire in my driveway , with a bad knock , thinking I threw a bearing. other wise the cars near mint shape .
I was thinking of just dropping a new motor motor from the self serve auto wrecker.
is there anything I have to watch for when grabbing the motor ?
I would really like to keep the 2.4l and now go down to the 2.2l , trying to keep it stock.
from what I can see reading here . i'm looking for something 00 to 02 ?
is that right ? I would really like a direct drop in, sensors ect .....

thanks , and will the 2.4l from other cars fit , Ive been trying to find a interchange list but no luck so far .

this is why I wouldn't want a 2.4L. They are much faster than the 2.2L but seem to destroy bearings with alarming regularity. Make sure the one you pull has the same transmission (auto, manual), it runs, and doesn't have the knock. If you can, find out the service history. Some people never change their oil, or do 15,000 mile runs on dino. Not good. Good luck with the swap.

1999-2002 will work fine. Get it out of a cavalier, sunfire, grand am, malibu, or alero.
