First, love this site - I've gotten many great tips and tricks from here. Now my first post and my new problem....
Okay, my gal pal lives out of the city and she wrote me an email describing her problem:
"[...] what is happening is the signal lights, both the left and right will be working just fine, and then in the middle of the signal (or turn

they will stop making sound and stop working for a short period of time and then sometimes start working again a few seconds later and sometimes don't come back on at all for the next couple turns but eventually will start working again if i just keep trying them. "
She took it to the dealer who replaced fuses, then told her her signal flasher relay was no good and wanted to charge her $225 to replace it!! I told her what to get and how to replace it, but it didn't solve the problem

I had her replace the black relay in the upper right corner of the fuse panel by the drivers door.
This didn't work, so I told her to remove all the signal bulbs, clean the contacts on them and on the harness, and try it all again. So far, due to weather, she has done this on a couple bulbs, but the problem is still there!
Can anyone suggest what I can do to get the cute gal's car working properly again?

She's great at following the directions I been giving her, and she'll be in town in less than a week so I can help her then too. I hope to clear this all up by then so she doesn't get any more dealer "forced entry".
Thanks for your time!
Whoops! It's a 00 Sunfire. Hehehe
Pretty good chance it is the turn signal switch in the steering column.
Mine just starting doing the same thing recently, mainly the left signal is the one that goes off. Don't know wtf is wrong, but have thought about ripping off the handle and tossing it out the window!
If you are sure all the bulbs are working and the correct flasher relay has been replaced, then its time to pull the steering wheel. replacing the plastic assy is easy once the steering wheel is off. You can get a whole unit which includes the lever, and wiring harness that goes down the column and plugs in.
