Sons car 99 cavalier with the 2.3 ohv valve engine. read the codes and it had only one. Cyl misfire. Replaced plugs as well as new boots but still runs rough. COIL?. Not sure what else to look into.

How does it run at higher speeds?

Does it lack power?

Last tuneup done?

Fuel filter been changed lately?

Compression OK?

Air filter last changed or checked...when?

Any unusual smoke out of the exhaust?
Cold smoke ? (first started AM)
running temp smoke?

Battery connections are good?

Does it happen based upon weather conditions?

If so what are the worst weather conditions to cause the problem?

i had this same problem on my daughters car.it was a fuel injector,someone had replaced it with a non gm injector(black).i finally figured that out and put all new oem in it -fixed the problem
