Have you replaced anything else like the ICM, plugs, boots?

I had a coil begin to fail at 89000 and ended up replacing the coil pack, plugs, boots, and ICM.

It's mount right on top of the coil pack on the driver's side.

well i bought a coil pack at the salvage yard and it just plugged in on the drivers side ,when it goes bad it only runs on like 2 cylinders changed the complete coil pack and starts right up ,works good for a month or so then acts up again

Well, when I had mine replaced at the dealer, I got the chance to look at it and there were some black burn marks in a couple places and on the boots. Also, with one of the plug, you were able to tilt it back and forth and the electrode would fall in and out.

Well what can happen is the ICM is always keep one of the coils powered and will burn it out

Do you have OEM plugs?

Its odd you are on your 4th, I got 75k and got the original one

You get what you pay for at a salvage yard. The cars are there for a reason esp if they arent dented up from a crash. Go to a good parts store and by a new set of coils. I'll bet you fix the problem. Just make sure the wires aren't bare somewhere causing a short to ground. Thats the fastest way to ending a coil pack.

It's probably the ignition module on the coil rail. Get one from the stealer. It's a bit more but you get the 12 month/12k mile warranty. Mine (also an 04) had the same issue and there was a bad ground somewhere in the harness. $220 (at the stealer) and I haven't burned one out since. It was bad as every few days it would fry out and what I wasted on used parts would have paid for the repair. HTH and good luck.

hello thanks for all the tips.we finally got it fixed .its been working good now for 3 weeks .i was told it was the plugs that was killing the coils.they were platinum 4 plugs that got wet from the coil going bad,put stock ones in it with a used coil and its been working fine since so thanks everyone for the help and merry xmas to all

I was gonna suggest this..had a coil go bad on me..changed it out and had a cylinder misfiring, turns out I had a plug go bad after ~500 miles of being new, buying a new set of plugs is the easy way to test it.
