transmission problem

Im not too sure if its normal but Id like to fix my transmission, when its cold it shifts into 2nd with a jerk, like in first it revs up and up but the car dosnt go much faster and then when it shifts to second at about 3000- 3500 it jerks forward and speeds up. This is only when its cold, after it warms up after about 10 min of driving it drives normal and shifts smooth. could this be because of a low fluid level or something? and if so how do I check the fluid level? I cant see any dipstick. I have a 99 z24 with an automatic transmission

There is a check plug on the passenger side of the transmission. It has a square head on it. WITH THE CAR RUNNING AND LEVEL pull the check plug out. If no fluid comes out, add some until it does. Use the red cap on the driver side on the top of the transmission. Let it slow to a trickle, put the check plug back in and your done. If you pull the plug without the car running, you will lose fluid and your transmission will be under filled.
