Stutter or hesitation.

Hey there just looking for some thoughts on a problem I ran into after a transmission replacement for a 5 speed 98 cavalier. Runs great when you use the gas at a medium level, as soon as you hit the gas to go it stutters, or is hesitant to go unless you ease up slowly....going up hills when you jam the gas to go up hill it stutters, hesitates doesn't want to move the way you want. Have to ease up on the gas and slowly accelerate. Your suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

I just took the time to write up possible causes and solutions to your problem, then realized it wasn't an automatic.

Flywheels can make your trans do crazy things, but without seeing the car i can't really diagnose it. When I had a similar issue, my spark plugs were extremely overdue for replacement. Are you certain its a trans thing? If your at idle in nuetral punch the gas hard for a second. If it sputters check your plugs. Otherwise it could very well be in the trans.

when it comes to stutters and such....do the cheap things first and i always start at the fuel filter...change that first! then also look into putting mew plugs and wires but youll prolly find the filter will fix it..phil
