Clicking Noise
Thursday, September 18, 2008 5:55 AM
Today was the third time I heard this noise, the air was on and I am hearing a clicking noise coming from around or near the glove box. If I turn the dial to recirculate the air the noise stops any other setting on the dial when the air is on causes this noise. The 2 previous time it made this noise, it stopped within a minute, but this morning when I started the car it keep clicking so I had to just keep it on recirculate. I have a 2004 Cavalier LS Sedan. Thanks everyone!

does it do it on all blower speeds? I know the blower is located right under the glove box, so this could be your problem, or not????

Is it a high pitch click or more a low pitched noise. Either way it sounds like the air inlet door, or recicurlation mode actuator acting up. be a good idea to take the blower motor out and inspect for any trash, sometimes stuffs gets jammed there causing the door's to bind.

Hey James, I have the same exact noise on my 03 Cavalier. It's been doing it for about 2 years now. I'm pretty sure there's a twig, or seed, or something foreign that has slipped through the air inlet and into the fan motor housing. When the fan motor runs, this "foreign object" just rattles against every flapping fin of the spinning fan motor. I tried to take the fan motor apart to clean it, but I noticed that mine doesn't have bolts, but rather these lame plastic rivets. I have noticed that it only "clicks" when the fan speed is on 1 or 2. If I run it at 3 or 4 I can't hear it.

Good luck getting it fixed. If you do, let me know.

BTW, the first I heard that clicking sound, I thought there were crickets in my car.)
