best way to change out the tensioner in you guys's experience? Yeah, I hae searched and nothing has a GOOD description of it, one guy said lower the motor to get the bolt out but thats about it? any good descriptive fairly easy ways to replace it? just need tips for after I take the belt off thats all too easy.
reason I need to replace is, for some reason its shaking all over the place, so I think the internal spring is starting to go, and it doesnt keep goo dtension when the car first starts either and volt gauge goes down, a little till I get driving, I wouldnt think the motor should shake or move at all due to I have both upper and lower mounts and my eco doesnt move AT ALL with mounts, but this 2200 shakes, and looks like the tensioner is the culperate, anyone had similar thing happen?
first, take out one of the blots from the lower motor mount ( its next to the passenger front tire) then support the motor from that point with a jack. now move the coolant reservoir put of the way (you should not need to unhook any of the hoses) and unbolt the upper motor mount. This will allow you to jack up the motor and give you the clearance to get out the tensioner bolt from the strut housing.
I have heard of people lowering OR raising the motor to accomplish this but it seemed easier to raise the motor at the time because of the way i unhooked the upper motor mount.
