Hello, this is my situation. I have a 2002 sunfire gt (2.2 ecotec) baught at 81000km from dealer 5 months ago. Currently the car has 114000km.
I drive about 300km a day 5 times a week, so I'm trying to keep maintenance a top priority.
I don't know the history of the car but i've so far done the following.
Changed the tires @ 95000k
Sparks plugs @ 100000k
Been useing 5w30 synthetic every 5000km or sooner since i've purchased it.
Installed an AEM cold air intake @ 100000km.
Dual catback exhaust @ 110000km.
Changed AEM filter @ 113km
What is my next move? I've heard people tell me I should...
Change the timing chain soon.
Coolant flush (looks pretty clean as far as i can tell)
Tranny flush (getting a slight brown tint)
Opinions and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
All sound like good things to do since you don't know the maintenance history. Everytime I buy a used car I always change everything I can like, fuel filters, air filter, fluids, plugs, wires, etc. I drive 100 miles a day back and forth to work, 5 days a week, not sure how that translates to KM. Also being a maintenance officer in the National Guard just reinforces the saying : Preventative maintenance is alot better than repair maintenance. But sitting on the side of the road does not look very fun and it gives me a little piece of mind knowing I did all I can do to keep rolling.
Good luck
