What are the back brakes on a 2004 cavalier? Is it drums or disc brakes?
They are drum brakes.
2003 Sunfire with 2 1/4 inch turbo muffler, 2 1/4 piping, 2 1/2 inch resonator, a 2 1/4 inch catalytic converter, 2 1/4 inch down-pipe, a ported LSJ manifold, E-bay strut brace, and an AEM true cold air intake NOPI edition.
Do you normally have to change the drums out when you do the rear brakes, or do you just change the shoes and springs out?
Most people just have the drums turned and new shoes installed. After the parts store turn the drums they should mic them and let you know if they are past the max diameter, usually stamped on the drum. Being 4 years old and probibly the first time turning I would not think they would be maxed out.
