Weird Clutch Issue
Tuesday, July 29, 2008 10:10 PM
I'm gonna buy a car from a buddy, who just replaced the clutch..He said, sometimes, every once in a while, when you push the clutch in, it stays all the way down, and needs to be lifted back up with your foot, but then its okay again for a while.

Any ideas why this is happening, or what it could be? I thought clutch cable, but only its weird its only happening, sometimes.

Thanks

I talked to the kid, he also said this is what it was.

How much are they, and are they hard to replace?

It took me about an hour to replace mine, and it was the first actual mechanical thing I did on my car. It's about 120$ brand new from GM (atleast the dealership I got mine from). Turns out it wasnt my problem so I still have my stock one somewhere. If I can find it I'll sell it to you for dirt cheap. Its the entire slave cylinder with the line that goes to tranny w/the bleeder & everything. It works just fine. I was just troubleshooting a weird problem I was having with my clutch. Send me a PM if ur interested.

Edit: and you do not have to pull the tranny.

The master cylinder is what's in the firewall...the slave is inside the trans and you do have to pull the trans to replace the slave...I just changed my master cylinder and it didn't help...prolly the slave.
