Im new to the forum and own a 2000 Cavalier Z24. It makes a clunk noise on accel, hard braking and turning. It also has a bump bump bump noise while coasting that is rhythmic with the speed of the car. Now, I work as a mechanic and have all kinds of mechanic friends. We have ALL looked this car over. It has new control arms w/ ball joints, stock preassembled struts (the kind that come with new mounts and springs already installed) and a new steering intermidiate shaft. I used the chassis ears on it and placed them on all the mounts, control arms, ball joints, subframe, sway bar and rack. Nothing. When I bought it in September I made the dealer put a new clutch in it before I purchased it. They also put in new axles. Im, thinking they must have left something loose thats not obvious. Anyone else have this same noise in their car? My friends at the Chevy dealer don't get many Cavaliers in anymore and couldnt pin point it.

Did they change the Pilot bearing when they did the clutch?
Bad axle when they replaced them?
There is no pilot bearing to replace.
If you cant find it with chassis ears you have them in the wrong locations. No offense but if the noise is as bad as you say it will how up with chassis ears in teh correct locations. I used to use them all the time when I was in a dealer.
OMG! I have spent a good deal of time on this car and today I decided to go over it and tighten down all the subframe bolts. Bingo. One was a turn loose. That was the noise. Freaking jackasses left it loose when they did the clutch. You wouldnt believe the sounds it was making! Was like the whole car was coming appart! lol

Those bolts sometimes come loose. I had one come loose on me before.
