Compression Issues

I have this 1990 Pontiac Sunbird SE and I started having issues with it. When I accelerate, usu. when I come to a complete stop or slow down to make a turn, it feels like my car loses compression. When I'm around 30 mph-50 mph, when gears kick in, I feel it too. I think it's happening because it needs a tune-up. Ever since the Summer arrived, it's gotten worse. Can someone please give me some insight onto what might be causing this. I don't want to do anything until I have a clue on what it might be because I don't want to buy the wrong replacement parts.

Maybe bring it to a mechanic?

I see your other post got locked... so...

I'm no expert on those transmissions, but I'm pretty sure they use a vacuum advance system. If there's a leak there somewhere, it could cause those kinds of issues.

Are you low on fluid? When was the last time the trans fluid & filter were changed?
