ac comp not working?

i noticed my ac pump gets no power, im engages if i hook directly to the battery. odd if u ask me. GM's have bad wireing, so im not sure whats the issue. no power comes thru the line unless i hook power were the relay goes. the relay does not click or anything, also other relays do not work. the light comes on the climate cont. when ac is selected and for the defrost. i know it most likely has a leak, but would a dry or low system do this? what options do you think i got besides a toggle switch? i did not play with it too long tonight, but i have no idea yet

Low charge will keep the A/C clutch from engaging. No point to engage if there is no freon and oil flowing.

more likely that you have a leak somewhere in the system, and have depleted your r-134a.

got it checked today, he said a leak, but no under the hood, plolly with the evaporator, in the dash he said... so i guess i got no ac haha i wonder what is all involved in that now. its a small leak, its cold for a week only, so with a few more weeks left of the need for it, i can deal with tossing a can in every few days
