I searched the forum for a answer but did not get what i was looking for. My car is a 96 2.2 OHV Cavy i recently replaced the altenator thinking it was my full problem. Sometimes it does not wanna start the only way i can get it started back is either 1. Jump it off or 2.Roll start it. I saw where someone mentioned the neutral safety switch but if that was my problem would it still jump off? anyone else have this issue before or can help me or guide me in the right direction?
Does it crank? What does the car sound like when you try to start it? Have you tested the battery? My guess would be either the battery or starter, but you have not provided enough info to get an accuate answer.
it sounds fine when it gets jumped off or roll started. It does not turn over if it has a jump or roll start it happens at random times. It starts right up when i have jumper cables and another vehicle right up no hesitation. When i try to start it it has power no dimming of lights or anything.
When it doesnt start do you hear a "clicking" or is it just dead quite?
sounds like a dead spot....although that doesnt explain the easy jumping....
go get your battery tested.
report back...
yea its dead silent. ok ill get battery checked out then report back.
