I just bought my first car. It's an 85 Oldsmobile 442 with a '71 model 455. I am interested in squeezing some more horsepower out of it, but I have a problem. All the big dealers (i.e. Jegs) have all the parts for big-block Chevys. Are there any parts that will fit my 455? And if not, where can I get a good catalog for my G-body?

They'll have parts for your 455. they're pricey, but your should have plenty of options. Summit should also carry some parts for the 455 such as intakes, heads, and other pieces.
Good luck.
You have to get part for the olds 455, its disigned differently than a chavy engine.
Also i know buick or olds 455 came stock with a forged bottom end, can anyone conform which one it is?
check out
www.autopartsway.ca. Someone just referred that site to me as well. It looks good. They're pretty cheap and read good reviews about the service.
the carb is interchangable vut dont do it, the stupidest thing you could do is put a chevy carb on an olds 455 that motor was completley designed and built by olds and was the best motor ever produced. the early sixtys models ran off of lead fuel and they produced over 400hp and in a super 88 holiday wich wieghed way over 5 thousand lbs it ran 0-60 in 6.2 seconds stock and got an amazing 23 miles to the gallon on the highway. the reason is the carb on the 4barrels they have smaller primarys and massive secondarys so you get good gad mileage at low throtle and at open throttle you get amazing power, the chevy car all four ports are almost the same size wich dose not give you the all around you want. some of the highest rated chevy motors have carbs off of the oldsmobile motors. but when gm bought out olds those carbs were changed over to the chevy style. so i recomend staying with olds parts for that motor. and if you buy a rebuild kit make sure you buy the right one try
www.autopartsway.ca cause the original motor is a 12:1 compression where most rebuilds are 10:1's.
Thank you guys..I appreciate all your response. Too bad I don't have much time this week to check out as I am quite excited to check those links. ( cheap ones from autopartsway, sounds cool)and make things done.. Be back after a week or more just had an emergency flight to my relatives. I'm gonna miss my car. sigh....
What are your goals for the motor/car??
Maybe we can help you more with that info. Not that I think a j-body sight is the best place for info on the subject...but there are some knowledgable people about them here (obviously)
