I found a 2.2 Ecotec motor from an 03 Cavalier for sale for only $400.00 only had 60k miles. As some may know I'm going to have a 97 2.2L 5spd Sunfire (haven't had time to pick it up yet but is mine). I figured the swap maybe worth it, I've heard the Ecotec is a more powerful motor and stronger, I'd like y'all to verify that if ya can. If this is the case, is the block the same that I could bolt it back up to the original trans that currently sits in the car? With it being a different brand of motor I wasn't sure if maybe the block bolt holes were different than from the current motor in the car. I don't know how difficult it would be for this swap but knew only you all j-body enthusiasts could give me the correct answer. If its worth it, it'd be neat to do something different to the car shortly after getting it in my hands

I want the car to have some pep and heard the regular 2.2's in these sunfire's aren't very "peppy". BTW I tried a quick search but didn't find anything to answer my question about the swap difficulty. Thank y'all!!

Your best bet would be to pick up the whole car(03 cavy) and swap everything over.
First you did not search good enough, or maybe not in the correct forum. That motor can be put in your car, but you need way more than just the motor. Your tranny will not work. Because of the year car you have getting a wreck Ecotec car is your best bet.

I tried searching through the search bar, I'm a member of other forums and try to always do a search first because I hate seeing repeat questions too. But thank y'all for the answers, I guess this will be a planned future thing since I'm going to need to start driving this gas saver asap.
