1998 2.4 Z24 a/t Engine wiring harness

So here's the deal. My brain fell out on the highway at 60mph. it rolled under the tire and ripped the wires out. It's a complete mess! I have tried to order a used wiring harness from numerous online salvage outfits with no success. They back out or just never call back. I have a replacement ECU programmed for my vin code, now I need the engine wiring harness. Is there a part number on the thing? Is it interchangeable with other years? Or even a pontiac Sunfire GT? Anybody got one laying around?

Yes sir, yes it does! You can shake the ECM and it sounds like it's full of gravel. If I can get the D$%^& harness for 200.00 I can fix this mess for under 400.00 even if I have to get a Crankshaft re-learn whatshamahoozit for 125.00. yay

Well, here goes nothing. I found a used engine wiring harness from a 98 z24 2.4 auto r134a from a salvage yard in Iowa. It is on it's way. I have the brain ready. Are there any pitfalls to this procedure? Anybody know if I have to pull the motor to get at every connector?

i swapped my wiring harness out a few weeks ago. you can do it all w/o removing anything more than the intake system up to the head (intake, throttle body, and intake manifold). you should be fine with the harness from another 98. im not 100% on the transmission part of it, but from what i understand an auto works on autos and mannies but a manny harness only works on other manuals. other than that, as long as it has the same engine options you should be fine.

the only suggestion i can give you when doing it is this: MARK YOUR SENSORS AS YOU UNPLUG THEM!!!! then when you have the old harness all the way out just start at one end and match the plugs and label the new harness. then start plugging it back in where it connects to the body harness and go from there. good luck!
