I have a fairly easy question about knock...

What does knock sound like? And what can cause it to happen!!!

Thanks

it sounds like just what it is.. a knock that you can just feel and know its there, it increases with rpm obviously.

Causes are bad bearings in the motor, they experiance accelerated wear due to oil starvation usually.. (Because the turbo requires the pump to move a portion of oil it wasnt designed to move)

I always use 20-50 in my ecotec, I used 5 and 10w-30 and the oil pressure in the side of my head would get as bad as 5PSI when the car warmed up at idle.
With 20-50 I never dropped below 20.

Bad bearings are not the only cause of knock, you can also have too much spark advance, too much spark retard, too little fuel, and piston damage causing hot-spots (and pre-detonation). There are more causes, but those are the major ones.

You will feel a sudden loss of power when you start knocking. It may not feel as noticeable on a turbo car though. When I was knocking, I couldn't feel it at all. Listen carefully, you might hear it, you might not. I never did

Is it loud, Should i be able to hear it in the cab of the car... is it super noticable?

I don't really notice a loss of power at all...

The only noises i hear from my car are slight ticky noises, but its nothing terrible... I think its just the sound of the injectors and my solenoid from my boost controller.
