Hi
Well not with a real power wash but one that you attached to the house
Anyways I sprayed some engine cleaner around the strut mounts and then sprayed it off,Didn't know if it was Dirt or what looked Pink so I contunired on
So then I vacuumed in and around the strut mounts to get the water away
My question is did I spray away some grease or something like that away,I'm not to sure and thought I should ask before I for-get about it,Never have seen this type off red stuff before was not thick or anything like that.
was liquid
Can I re-pack my strut mounts
I will have to try it again as the engine dried and well all the dirt on the air filter hose and hoses came back and I didn't let the pulleys dry so the belt
squeaks.
I am not sure what you are saying.

there shouldnt be anything hanging out in the top of the strut mount.....especially fluid.
What do you mean???
I power washed the car,and all this Pink-red fluid sprayed out from the strut mounts
Didn't look like grease or anything like that(liquid),I then asked can you re-pack your strut mounts if I did spray some grease off
Did I damage anything maybe don't want the struts to start to make noise
do you live in a dusty area, like a dirt road or something or travel on one all the time? Was your car recently painted?

I have gone on some Dirt roads before, and have never done this before,so maybe just some dirt I guess but the Pink hmmm
the car has never been painted
So you think its just some Dirt I sprayed off
I haven't driven the car since I did it so I can't see if I did anything wrong
the mounts are rubber and metal, maybe the pink stuff was some lemonade you spilled on a hot day while working on the car? or maybe something on the power washer spray.

Sounds to me like shock oil. If you've ever seen a car with leaky shocks that's been driven a while and collected dust, there can be a buildup of colored greasy crud. How that would get up into the strut tower mounts, I'm not sure.
Maybe you or a PO blew the shocks hard somehow, or maybe someone had oiled or greased the strut mounts to protect them or stop noise. I wouldn't power wash something like strut mounts or other parts containing bushings or bearings. I've seen strut mounts on other cars that went bad from dirt and moisture being worked in.
Sometimes manufacturers will pack the upper strut mount, mainly the area around the strut rod bolt with a little grease since the mount is mostly rubber to keep the rubber from drying out..or something.. i dont know why they put the grease in there, but sometimes they do. I know toyota does, i'm not sure about GM.
could also be the Dex-Cool coolant. its an orange color though. Also could be the solvent you used to clean the engine.. did you use Gunk Engine cleaner? it's pink..(and smells bad lol)

Bingo!!!
I used Gunk Engine Cleaner so thats the Pink then
I guess it won't hurt to re-pack them or just spray some grease on them at least
