Wiring harness self destruct

We have a 1998 Z24 Cavalier with the 2.4. My son was driving down the highway when all of a sudden the PCM fell from inside the fender, rolled under the passenger tire and ripped the entire wiring harness from the car. I found a replacement PCM with correct program on Ebay for 100.00, but is there a connector further up-line in this harness where I can simply replace this section of harness with a new one or am I doomed to hours of soldering in little connectors and reading wiring diagrams? Please help, Please, god, someone help!

you'll have to replace the entire engine harness unless you do want to solder all those wires. there's a large "block" connection on the driver side where it goes into the cabin where it disconnects from the rest of the car. it's held together by a nut you'll have to unscrew. undo that, all of the sensors, and the get the fuse box out, and you're ready to put in the new harness.

go to http://www.car-part.com and search for your wiring harness there. prices will be anywhere from about $250 to $100. call the junkyard you'd like to purchase from and tell them what you car you have. you'll need to know what options the car has, i.e. A/C, ABS, 5 speed or auto.
