How exactly does the IAC work? Its a solenoid that restricts a port in the TB, correct?


Im having idling problems with my 03' eco, 5-speed. Idles fine when i 1st start it, but after driving it (averaging 2000-2100rpms) i will come to a stop and it wont idle. It just dies. If i rev it high(5000rpms) it seems to clear its self out and works fine. It doesnt do it everyday, just once in a while. But it has been doing it more commonly.

Im thinking the IAC is sticking closed since it isnt needed while driving, cuz the throttle plate inside the TB is opened.(correct?) Im going to try cleaning it, but i do have a spare TB at home with the sensors in it that i can swap on.

I cleaned the IAC last night and so far its idling fine.
