Slight tick from driver side when in neutral or off the throttle.
Wednesday, April 02, 2008 3:11 PM
As mentioned above.

When the car is moving, and in neutral, or off the throttle I get a ticking that has to do with the speed I am going, as soon as I tap the gas a little bit the noise is gone again. I just replaced the CV half shaft thinking that was the problem, NOPE..

What do you guys think the problem is? Wheel bearing? tranny problem?

Please help.

I'm also interested in this.... my 2.4LD9 does the same thing... only when it's idling... as soon as you give it gas it goes away... possibly just a engine noise? I'm almost positive it's not the infamous tick of death....

I dont think so, atleast with my car, as the noise isnt there at idle, only when the car is in movement, and the noise oscillates with the speed.

Ive had the tick of death on the #3 bearing in my past 2.4 and this is not need as loud.

hmmm... just took my car for a drive... ever since replacing my spark plugs last week I have not noticed really any type of engine noise... seems like my slight tick has gone... good luck with yours!

Is it consistant whit speed or whit rpm may be the counter chain? But that is probably not right lol

It fluctuates with speed, not RPM.

Is it possible that the noise is from a bushing in the suspension being loose and something rattling?

Had the car up a lift yesterday. Its coming from the transfer case.
What could it be?

i have this exact problem. i ahve been driving the car for about 30 000km sine it started. when i depress the clutch it will go away. i was thinking the release bearing was the problem. i am starting to get a slight squelling noise when the clutch engages sometimes but no difference in clutch feel. car has 240 000km on it.

Yeah. Just confirmed as the Throw-out bearing.
