Pretty much just like the title says. Car won't turn over but dash lights come on. I did a test on the battery by turning my headlights, heater fan, radio, and windshield wipers on and everything was really really really slow and then just died. Could the starter be dead and when I try to crank it the lack of power from the starter kills the battery?
Also, jump starting it does nothing. I hooked it up to my other car for about 15 minutes and the only thing it would do is let the interior lights on the cavy work.
Sorry, I forgot to add that I can't even get the starter to turn over when jumping it at the solenoid with 2 screw drivers.
Sounds like your battery is dead. Try a different battery.
That's what I'm thinking of doing, but before I go buy a new battery I want to know IF the starter is bad and I put a new battery in there will the charge get sucked out of the new battery?
if you buy a new battery, problem solved. your old battery just doenst have enough juice to turn the starter over. oh, and the starter doesnt hold power like your talking about. its the battery that does.
So it's actually possible for the battery to be so dead that even a jumpstart will not help start the car? Sorry for the questions, but I appricate the help.
I thought you said, in another thread
[well, it's not the starter or battery because they both checked out good.]
If so, did you check your battery Negative cable connection--at both ends?
If you have a bad connection even jump starting will be unable to get power to the starter

to answer your question, a bad starter (particularly the solenoid) can kill the battery.
