P0133 and P1133

My CarChip Pro finally arrived, so I finally got a reading on what the check engine light was about. The codes it came up with are P0133 and P1133. The Car Chip program says that P0133 is 02 sensor circuit slow response (bank 1 sensor 1). The sticky in this forum also says that. However, the P1133 code only says Unknown Powetrain DTC (Manufacture Controlled; Fuel and Air Metering). The CEL thread says something else. I just figured that the CarChip program didn't have the code's meaning so it was unknown.

Are those codes accurate? If they are, what do I have to do to fix them? Is it something that I could easily fix on my own? I don't know my way around the engine very well, so I'd need a good description and help finding the right parts to order.

My car is a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire SE with the 2.2L engine.

Thanks for the help!

P1133 is " Insufficient Switching Bank 1 sensor 1". I do not see any mods in your registry. Is this correct? No header, or exhaust mods? If so sounds like it is time for a new O2 sensor. This you can do yourself. Really easy on a 2.2.

That is correct. The only "exhaust" mod I've made would be my Flowmaster muffler, but the light was on before I had that installed. I've done nothing to the header or exhaust system.

Thanks for the quick response. Do you know of a good oxygen sensor to buy? I've seen some with one wire, a few with two or three, and some with four wires. Is it important which sensor I get? Also, where can I find good instructions for replacing the sensor? I've got the Haynes manual but I can't really follow it very easily.

I recommend AC Delco sensor's. As far as 1 wire etc.. You need whatever your car has. I think it is a 1 wire, but you can look and see it. Haynes manual should be more than enough to replace the sensor.
