Always have been curious about doing this to my engine. I have 92k on it and it is a 2000 sedan. Will this hurt anything in the engine? How do i go about doing this???? Any effects afterwards?
As the bottle says, put 1/3 in the gas tank, 1/3 in the crank case, and 1/3 in the intake. For the intake I usually pull the brake booster and jam it in the bottle. Let it all get in there, turn the car off for 5 minutes and then start it up again. I usually let it run and then drive till the smoke clears and then change the oil.
Never had any problems with it.
Make sure you don't hydralock your engine. What I usually do is when it starts to stall I pull out and let it run then keep going.
so do this b4 i need an oil change? and how much gas should i have in my tank when i go about doing this. Basicly this is just a total engine cleaning?
2000 Cavalier Sedan.
I did the seafoam thing last night.
2/3rds of it went in my gas tank. 1/3rd of it went in my fuel injection.
I removed the vaccum hose where it plugs into the brake booster. I started the car and it idled very high. I slowly poured the 1/3rd can into the hose and it was sucking it in like crazy, the car spit and sputtered and it brought the idle down, then back up.
I then let the car sit for 5 mins, put the line back on, started it up. No smoke.
I then drove it for a bit, no smoke. Weird.
Tonight its getting new plug wires.

I pulled the elbow off of my intake and poured it directly into my tb. Just don't let the car die. Shut off for 5 mins. I started it and let it idle. Very little smoke at first, then I started driving. I left a cloud down my street. Just keep it in part and rev it for a few minutes, then drive.
