Working on a 2.4L. I already read some posts on plugs, and I'll probably go with the AC Plats, unless someone gives me some kind of horror story about them. But my real question is this... What kind of life do the spark plug boots have? I've heard about arcing issues, and I want to make sure all is good when I do a tune up when the weather warms up a little. I know its just a boot and a spring inside that connects the spark plug to the coil. Are there any high performance options for the 2.4L plug boots? OEM best way to go?
i would stick with the OEM ac delco stuff.
while you are in there i would replace the boots(20ish $ from a parts store), and the white coil pack housing deal. That usually shows signs of carbon tracking and will soon lead into a missfire. IT isnt that rare for that housing to cause problems on a 2.4l.
oh.. so you actually replace the housing? is this costly? Maybe I'll try and drag my ass outta bed early on monday and go to the dealer before work. It has a miss on idle that seems to be getting worse. I also want to try and improve my mileage a little considering the gas prices aren't getting any cheaper.. UGH.. Thank god I don't drive the Trans AM anymore.. LOL
personally I just swapped plugs for NGK IX iridiums and love them.... just did a nice road trip and no problems... improved my gas mileage + engine runs nice and smooth.... as for booties... I would also suggest replacing them... they run $39 from parts source or Canadian tire...
ok cool.. weather is getting nice, so I'll have to get these done soon.
Thanks Guys
