LN2 dipstick seal?

ok this is kind of a newb question, but does anyone know where i can get the seal that the dipstick sits on? Apparently I have a leak that has been coming from there when i drive for long distances and i thought it was the oil pan gasket so i spent a long time replacing that, come to find out its a leak from the dipstick. I have tried the regular parts stores such as autozone oreillys and a couple others with no success. Im thinking about just using rtv and making my own gasket!

are you talking about the seal up in the cap, or the one where the tube goes into the block? if it's where the dipstick tube goes into the block, then go ahead and use the RTV, just make sure you clean around there before you pull it off. If its the one on the top, try and get a general use O-ring that is large enough.

you should see what the dealer wants for one of them, IT might not be THAT expensive and you know it's going to work since it's the exact part that is on there now....

its the one where the dipstick goes into the block. I was thinking about trying the dealership but its the weekend and alot of the parts departments are closed, believe or not. I live in kc and the ones i tried werent open, but i have to drive back to school today and thats a two hour drive so im guessing i will use RTV. Do you know if they are interchangeable between cavis and fires? I have a fire but in my college town there is only a chevy dealership, but ill try them and see what they have.

GM Parts Direct Catalog wrote:Engine, Engine parts, Oil tube, Grommet, Grommet - 2.2 liter, w/o dohc - 2.2 liter, w/o dohc
MSRP Price $6.02
Your Price $3.56

It doesn't give the part number, but if you use their catalog look-up you can find it.

Your local dealership will probably have it or get it for you, but at the MSRP. It will probably cost the same as GM Parts Direct cost plus shipping.
