so every couple of weeks, well more like when it goes from being 40 ish degrees to around 20degrees, (or a dramatic temperature drop) my brake pedalbecomes extremely soft, and i basically have no brakes...i did notice i was down some fluid but nothing terrible.
any ideas?
yea a while back and they said they were fine, idk i might go and have it checked by a different shop
perhaps one or more of your calipers or rear cylinders is nearing it's wear limit and the cold makes the problem because the seals are not pliable at that temperature. Or the master itself could have a similar condition.
yeaa the master cylinder went,
I would pull all four whls check the front calipers(seals inside at the piston) they are normally what start to wear out,Yes u have to pull the caliper off and remove the pads to do this sucks but is necess to check. The rear easy remove drum and look at the whl cyldr for rubber seals for leaks or cracks. If u see its time to repl the front seals due to wear do it,also the rear is sometimes easier just to buy new whl cyldrs there cheap versus buying a kit,I did on the rear whl cyld. And obvisously u would have to bleed the system upon doing such work.Hope this helps and worst case if none of the above is the case ur master cyldr may be the culprit,oh the fun.I would lean toward the simple b4 the master unless u see it leaking.
