i had problems a little while ago with spark plugs i replaced the plugs and the ones i took out were longer then the new ones i put in i got them from a local chevrolet dealer, (the old ones part# 41-981 and the new ones are 41-948) but it still seems as though its miss firing, sometimes it'll happen and others it'll run real strong, i got the codes read before i put it away for winter but there werent any... just wondering if anyone knows anything bout it or how to fix it?... if so it would be greatly appreciated

It sounds like they've given you the plugs for the "old" 2.2 or 2200. I found the same issue when purchasing plugs for my brother's 2002 Sunfire GT with the Ecotec - the listings were messed up for that year. It seems that having 2 different 2.2's that year caused some confusion.
Although it may work somewhat, it's far from ideal the way it is. Get the proper plugs in there. If the Chevy dealer is good to deal with, they should give you the proper ones without any hassle, since it was their mistake. If it's been several months, they may give you some resistance though...
Either way, those are NOT the correct plugs - there should be no noticeable difference in length.

i see on the autozone site and rockauto.com that the ecotec plug # is 41-103 , or 41-105 one is iridium.

so which one is it?

nevermind= the # 41-103, or 105 is for the iridium and that other # is for a stock replacement.

I called a few car parts stores and they got the #'s mixed up even after i told them what motor i had. I double checked by having them look up a 2003 cavalier as there is only one engine .

but thanks for the heads up, i would have trusted the parts counter guy to give me the right plugs, and run the risk of gettiing the wrong ones. Keep in mind the parts store is a 25 minute drive one way for me. = not fun.

yea, i thought i could trust my local chev dealer but they gave me plugs for a completely different engine when i told them it was for an ecotec... but i talked to a friend from out of town and he used to work at a chevrolet dealership and he's worked on quite a bit of cavys and said that those plugs weren't right either. but yea i have pretty much just went with an 03-05 cuz those all had the ecotecs.
